Agreement to Terms

By accessing and using JSON Editor Online ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not use the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.

Description of Service

JSON Editor Online is a free, client-side web application that provides tools for:

• Editing, viewing, and formatting JSON data
• Validating JSON syntax and structure
• Converting JSON to/from other formats (CSV, XML, YAML)
• Querying JSON with JSONPath expressions
• Comparing and diffing JSON documents
• Generating TypeScript types from JSON

All processing occurs entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. Your data is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

No Account Required

The Service does not require user registration, login, or account creation. You may use all features immediately without providing any personal information.

Free Service

JSON Editor Online is provided completely free of charge with no subscription fees, premium tiers, or hidden costs. We reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future, but the core JSON editing functionality will remain free.

User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Your data: You retain full ownership and responsibility for any data you input, edit, or process using the Service
• Data backup: While the Service provides auto-save via localStorage, you are responsible for maintaining backups of important data
• Browser compatibility: Ensuring you use a modern web browser that supports JavaScript and HTML5
• Security: Maintaining the security of your device and browser

Acceptable Use Policy

You agree NOT to use the Service for:

• Any illegal purpose or in violation of any local, state, national, or international law
• Attempting to interfere with, disrupt, or create an undue burden on the Service or networks connected to the Service
• Attempting to decipher, decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer the Service (except as permitted by open source licenses)

We expressly disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including but not limited to:

Limitation of Liability

Privacy and Data Processing

All JSON data processing occurs 100% client-side in your browser. We do not collect, store, or transmit your JSON data or personal information. For complete details, please read our Privacy Policy.

Analytics and Usage Data

We use Umami Analytics, a privacy-focused, self-hosted analytics platform, to collect anonymous usage data for the purpose of:

• Understanding how the Service is used
• Identifying areas for improvement
• Measuring feature adoption and performance
• Detecting and fixing bugs

Analytics data collected includes:

• Page views and navigation patterns
• Referral sources
• Browser type and operating system
• Device type (desktop, mobile, tablet)
• Approximate country-level location (anonymized IP)

Important: Umami does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, does not track you across websites, and does not collect your JSON content. All analytics data is anonymized and aggregated. Browser Storage (localStorage)

The Service uses your browser's localStorage to save your work and preferences locally on your device. This data:

• Is stored only on your device
• Is never transmitted to our servers
• Can be cleared through your browser settings
• May be lost if you clear browser data

You acknowledge that we are not responsible for any data loss resulting from cleared browser storage.

Service Availability

We strive to maintain high availability, but we do not guarantee that the Service will be:

• Available at all times without interruption
• Free from errors, bugs, or security vulnerabilities
• Compatible with all browsers or devices

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
